Steel your mind, Move on instinct
Sazh Katzroy —

[サッズ・カッツロイ ]

“When I first met Sazh on the Purge train, I thought he’d be a burden… He was probably always the first one to complain about getting tired; but I’ll say this, he was possibly the most sane out of our group. Especially during times like that, it’s difficult to keep a good head on your shoulders…

With that said, I’m glad that he decided to look after Vanille when I left the party behind at the Vile Peaks. How he managed to keep up with her energy, will always remain a mystery to me.”

—————————————————————————————————————————————————

Being her very first encounter during the Purge, Lightning’s personality towards Sazh was frosty; indifferent, at best. Though later in the game, she comes to realize that his relatively constant temperament was the solid foundation for the party, and even for herself. During the most tense moments, it was often Sazh who broke the ice. Thus, she becomes more appreciative of Sazh’s company and good humor, despite the man’s occasional pessimistic remarks.

ooc: Just a heads up, I will be working on my headcanons page along with replies over the summer whenever time permits me. Essentially, I’m going to write musings and breakdowns, which is something I had never done for any other Final Fantasy character.

With that being said, please bear with me. This is something that I had been wanting to do for some time and I’d like it to be a summer project of sorts. Replies will come by slowly, but I will try to make it well worth the wait.

If any of you have suggestions as to what I should write about, please feel free to tell me via Ask. I’ll be more than happy to look into your suggestions.

Thank you all for your understanding and support.

Hope Estheim —

[ホープ・エストハイム]

“When I first saw Hope, we didn’t exactly start off on the right foot. But he grew up well… from an incompetent kid to a headstrong young man. He has the strength to press on and overcome his problems on his own.

Of course, every once in a while I’d give him a small push. Giving him my survival knife was one way to give him the confidence he needed then. c!ic: then again, all he ever did with the knife was scratch his name and mine on the gapra whitewood trees…

Other than that, he’s a reliable companion. Not to mention the strongest mage you’ll meet yet. I have to admit, I was surprised by how versatile he is with magic. If we didn’t have him in our team (during our days as l’Cie), we would’ve had trouble finding a good medic.”

—————————————————————————————————————————————————

When Hope had first approached Lightning, asking her to take him under her wing, the soldier reluctantly decided to become his mentor. Akin to her want to provide for Serah, Lightning sought to provide for the boy whatever survival skills and advice she could offer.

(During their time traveling through the Gapra Woods) “… the act of Lightning giving Hope her survival knife is symbolic. It was given to Lightning as a gift from Serah, and it represents how the role of “younger sibling” becomes passed down from Serah to Hope in Light’s eyes.” —

Hope, to her, is somewhat like a “surrogate sibling”, as she is a surrogate mother to him; thus, they trust and care for each other as any close knit family.

Serah Farron —

[セラ・ファロン]

“Serah would be the one I cherish the most. Having lost both our parents, she is the only family I have left.

I’ve done all that I could to protect her from the moment our parents had died.
I was all too aware that I wasn’t the only one who was suffering from loss…
There was nothing much I could do; my only way of providing solace then was to keep silent. I never told Serah about some of the missions I carried out during my Guardian Corps days. Serah was… the innocence I never had. And in a sense, she still is. I couldn’t bring myself to explain the world to Serah; the world I see through my eyes. I never lied to her, but I kept quiet.

… however, I’d come to realize that Serah is emotionally stronger than I gave her credit for. Having been a l’Cie; having been ostracized by the community, the government, the entire world… and even by me… Serah was able to brave through all that. She had the hope and wisdom that took nearly the entirety of my journey for me to discover.

With that being said, if (Etro forbid) Serah were to face adversity, I don’t think it will discourage her the slightest, but I’m not going to turn away like I had the one time she needed me; I’ll give her all the support she needs.” —

—————————————————————————————————————————————————

Due to the fact that their parents had passed while the Farrons were still young, being the elder sibling, Lightning developed both a maternal and sisterly instinct for Serah.

Lightning is very much protective of Serah Farron (as she is the only family the soldier has left), and admittedly, especially after Serah had met Snow. The ex-sergeant is always particularly watchful of the younger Farron; always vigilant in case her beloved sister is in need.

defier-of-fate started following you

ambitiousdirector:

Hope gazed at the woman in front of him in awe. Was it really her..? It was unmistakable. She had barely changed from when had met her, all those years ago. This couldn’t be right though. Wasn’t she supposed to be in Valhalla? What exactly happened to her? There was so much he had wanted to ask, but first he had to confirm if it was actually her.

“Lightning…? Is….is that you?”

Lightning’s head lifted attentively as an unfamiliar voice — a voice of a young man — addressed her. Turning her ice-blue gaze towards the owner of the voice, her brows lifted as she appraised the other. Much to the ex-sergeant’s surprise, the man looked strikingly familiar to Hope; he could possibly pass as his older sibling if she had not known that Hope was the only child in his family. Little did she know, the stranger before her is indeed the same young adolescent she had mentored a few years before.

Inclining her head slightly, the freelancer rested her gloved hands upon her hips before offering a slight nod with her response, “Yes. I am Lightning.”
Studying his features a moment longer, Lightning shifted her gaze away from the silver-haired male, “Strange… you remind me of someone I know. Silver hair, with light turquoise eyes… except he’s younger than you.”

ooc: I will be writing relationship headcanons for the next couple weeks while working on thread replies. The canons may be continually refined, and contents may be changed or added at any given moment.

ooc: As much as I appreciate the anonymous messages (for Lightning), I’m going to disable the anon option. It’s nothing personal, really; I just think it would be nice to have a face to a message every once in a while.

If it is intimidation that leads you to send a message anonymously, please know that I am not as stern as my character. I will be more than happy to converse with any of you.

why are you so mean to snow all the time?
